I am Deepa Rajenda Okade, hailing from the culturally rich town of Udupi, Karnataka. From an early age, I was introduced to various art forms such as theatre, dance, music, veena, and painting. Growing up, I actively participated in and observed numerous prestigious events that deeply influenced my journey as an artist. These experiences strengthened my passion and expanded my knowledge in the field of art.Furthering my education, I pursued a Master’s degree in art, architecture, and archaeology, which enhanced my academic foundation in the arts. Over the past 24 years, I have been actively contributing to the field as both a teacher and performer. I have conducted workshops across a range of art styles, including Indian traditional and folk arts, relief work, wall Murals and contemporary, and abstract art using various mediums. I have also been involved in puppetry schools and productions in collaboration with the Temple of Fine Arts and the High Commission of India in Malaysia. Additionally, I have created stage backdrops and sets for major dance productions and art festivals. Throughout my career, I have been honoured and recognized for my contributions, which continue to inspire me to further serve the art community.

The “Ramayana-Themed Arts and Craft Workshop” is a creative journey through the vibrant world of the Ramayana, designed to inspire participants to express their artistic talents while exploring one of India’s most beloved epics. This hands-on workshop blends storytelling with visual art, allowing participants to craft unique pieces that reflect the rich characters, scenes, and symbols of the Ramayana.
Through guided sessions, participants will create a variety of Ramayana-inspired artworks, including masks, puppets, paintings, and decorative items. They will learn to depict iconic characters like Rama, Sita, Hanuman, and Ravana, as well as key scenes such as the building of the bridge to Lanka, or Sita’s abduction. The workshop integrates traditional Indian art forms like Madhubani, Warli, and Pattachitra, offering participants a chance to learn these techniques while bringing the epic to life.
This workshop is perfect for children, families, and art enthusiasts of all ages, encouraging creativity while fostering a deeper understanding of the Ramayana’s cultural and artistic heritage. Participants will leave with both handcrafted artworks and a renewed connection to the timeless stories of the Ramayana
